Sometimes due to a reason or another it happens that we forget our dashboard password. To recover it is quite simple, you just need to select the lost password then provide your email address in the field. WordPress will then send you an email containing the necessary information you need in order to reset your password. But I doubt this will function if you are still working on your website locally. That is if your website is still in your physical machine, you will have to use another approach because you won’t receive any mail. Then How to reset your password with PhpMyAdmin in WordPress ? Don’t worry, in the next section we will provide a list of steps you will need to follow in order to reset your password locally.
In this tutorial we are using XAMPP and Ubuntu. So this should work well on any Ubuntu version or =>14.08. Now let dive into the main subject
Navigate to your PhpMyAdmin panel
Select a database (here we are using a tradnow database).
In the structure of the database look for the table wp_users and simply click on it or on browse. wp_users is a table that contains a list of users.
Next select the user you wish to reset password. In the next window that opens, look for the user_pass. In the two fields next to it select MD5 in the first field and enter a new password in the second field finally click on Go.
Successfully you should get something as above. Now you can go back to the WordPress admin section and login with your new password. Fortunately you will be able to add or edit your blog or website or app content.
Hope this article helps you guys ! See you next time for another tutorial.
